GUESTBOOK AND CUSTOMER REVIEWS

You can find many reviews about us in most major travel websites such as Trip Advisor, Travel Fish, Lonely Planet (we're not yet in the book), stefan-loose.com (german)...

Here are a few comments that we have received from past customers:

Dear Toot,
I hope you are doing well! My name is Anika and I attended your cooking school several years ago, which I really loved. My mother and father also came to Nary Kitchen in November and really enjoyed your cooking class.
Presently, I live in Phnom Penh and wrote a complete guide for traveling to Cambodia on my website. I loved my experience at Nary Kitchen so much that I recommended visiting your cooking class as a must do activity in Battambang. You can read what I wrote here: https://trail.bananabackpacks.com/cambodia-itinerary
Thanks again and I look forward to cooking with you again soon!
Kindest regards,
Anika

Renée:
"Great value for huge meal you get to eat when you are done with your class! Toot (Nary''s husband ) speaks great English while his wife assists you while you prepare a 3 to 4 course meal. All the ingredients are fresh (Toot takes you on a tour of the market to purchase) and very hygeniclly prepared. A must for anyone wanting to know how traditional Kmer food is prepared."

Lily:
"A great value experience, where not only to you get to learn how to cook homemade khemer food, but do so in a real home environment. Family run, so we were literally cooking in their home and got to see the real Cambodian life. The husband first took us to the local Market to buy all the ingredients ( an experience in itself and all included in the price), then we were taken back to their home to be taught how to cook 3 dishes, learning how to prepare everything fresh, including coconut juice and curry seasoning! His wife - the main cook - was really sweet but spoke little English and so he acted as translator!"

Esther Janssen
"In Battambang I took a cookingclass at Nary Kitchen, a small restaurant and bar. The very friendly and good speaking Englisch owner Toot explained me everything about the Cambodian kitchen and ingredients, while is wife was instructing me what to do. Of course we went to the market together where we bought all the ingredients for a fish amok (the recipe I chose). While the fish amok was steeming in the pan, I got a coffee for free and was playing with some neighboorchildren in the backyard. After that I had a lovely dinner and talk with my kind host.
The kitchen of this very small family restaurant is very tiny but very clean. And I really loved the cookingclass with this family. It only costed me 6 dollars for the cooking, explanation and the ingredients. I even got a coffee and drinkingwater for free.
I really loved the place."

Mr. Flamo
"Despite lacking any cooking skills aside from those required for creating pasta and sauce Nary Kitchen showed me how to put together Fish Amok, Beef Lok Lak and also some rather fiddly spring rolls with great success. I don't think that I can add more to the previous reviews if only to say that it's definitely worth persevering if you're trying to find it from the flyers that they hand out as the roads are somewhat confusing. All in all an excellent way to spend a morning or afternoon out of the sun and I was genuinely surprised with the results, fish amok will be appearing on my kitchen table when i'm back in the UK for sure."

Yann (Revue en Français dans le lien): I came to Battambang in 2013 to take a cooking class with you and I loved it!
I launched last October my travel blog in French, and I just posted a review of the cooking class we did together:

And many more...

About Us

ABOUT US

Angkor Wat Tour
Miss Nary and Mr Toot Master Chefs

We use the opportunity of the page "About Us" to thank all the people who make our happiness every day by coming to our restaurant.

My name is Toot, my wife's name is Nary, and we are the owners of this restaurant and have over 30 years of Experience as Master Chefs.

I was born in Kampot in 1966 where I grew until high school that I quit to become a freelance tour guide thanks to the little english I knew, until 1975.

Nary was also born in Kampot, was born in 1967 from an even poorer family of farmers, she could still attend elementary school and learnt cooking from her mother at the farm, until 1975.

In 1979 we both ended-up in Battambang where we painstakingly saved to open the restaurant Nary had dreamt of all her life.

We have now a decent income that allows us to send all our children to school and we hope to send them to Univesity in Phnom Penh someday.

So I can never express enough thanks to all our patrons because we owe you our happiness and the pride to provide our children with a better education than we had.

Toot and Nary.

NARY KITCHEN, A TRADITIONAL CAMBODIAN RESTAURANT

Traditional Cambodian Restaurant

Restaurant in Battambang

Nary Kitchen is primarily a family owned Cambodian food restaurant located in the heart of Battambang.

The restaurant is opened from 7h00 for breakfast and serves continuously until late at night (22h00 or later if patrons enjoy our company).

We provide a wide range of Khmer traditional dishes, a vegetarian menu and we are very famous for our Fish Amok and Lok Lak recipes.

Prices are very reasonable and vary from $2.5 to $3.5.

We go to the market daily to insure the quality and freshness of all ingredients.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is cosy and friendly, our staff speak English and French and our clientele always enjoys the simple while tactful service we provide.

Drinks are cheap as well and we provide the usual soft drinks, tea, coffee and cold beer.
